Gochang Solapark 14.98MW Photovoltaic Power Plant Project
50
Gochang Solapark 14.98MW Photovoltaic Power Plant Project which is located in Jeollabuk-Do, the Republic of Korea, generates electricity based on solar energy source. It contributes to the national renewable energy promotion policy and the global effort of GHG emission reduction. The project contributes to lowering the dependence of power generation on fossil fuel use and has the effect of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The facility includes the power plant of 14.98MW in total generating capacity with the 175W*57,120, 180W*27,710 pieces of supplied 16.9% efficiency. The project produces about 22,183 MWh per year and achieves an average annual emission reduction of 135,225 tCO2 over ten years.
This project is supervised by KDB Infrastructure Investments Asset Management Co., Ltd and operated and maintained by Gochang SolaPark Co., Ltd., and ECOEYE, a carbon project developer, which supports CDM business monitoring to secure emissions reduction. Furthermore, ECOEYE is a company that discovers carbon credits not only in the Republic of Korea but also in various types of projects around the world.
The main goals of the project are to:
Reduce the greenhouse gas emission in Korea.
Utilize no greenhouse emission photovoltaic power to contribute to sustainable development of the local communities.
Contribution of the project activity to sustainable development
The contributions of the project towards sustainable development are explained with the following indicators:
Environmental:
The photovoltaic power plant replaces coal-fired power plants and contributes to the national reduction of GHG emissions.
The plant contributes towards improving the quality of air and creating better living conditions nationwide by reducing air pollution.
Social/Technology:
The project diversifies sources of electric generation and is a model case as a PV power plant that utilizes solar energy.
The project contributes to the revitalization of the local energy industry with the cooperation of local governments.
Economic:
The project supplies the local area with available electric power and contributes to the national energy supply.
The project creates job opportunities directly and indirectly through construction and operation of the plant.
