Grid connected solar PV power plant in Kutchh district of Gujarat
3
Tata Power is driven by a resolute mission to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2045. Our commitment surpasses even the most ambitious benchmarks set by developed nations. In the Kutchh district of Gujarat, we proudly present a 5 MW (Mega Watt) Solar Photovoltaic Technology (PV) Power Project, in collaboration with Unity Power Private Limited. Located in the village of Kirsara, taluka Anjar, this visionary project harnesses the immense power of solar energy to illuminate the future. It is more than a power project; it is a promise to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and meet the increasing demand for electricity across India. Our solar PV power plant is a shining example of sustainable progress.
Our project generates clean electricity, which is seamlessly integrated into the grid, ensuring a reliable and eco-friendly energy supply for the nation. This is a monumental step towards meeting the surging energy demands of the country, all while reducing our carbon footprint.
Contribution of the project activity to sustainable development
The project activity contributes towards sustainable development in the following ways:
Social well-being: The project has led to generation of business opportunities and employment in Anjar Taluka, thereby contributing towards social upliftment through direct and indirect benefit.
Environmental well-being: The estimated annual emission reductions are 7,763 tCO2e annually, thus contributing towards reduction in GHG (Greenhouse Gases) emission.
Technological well-being: The project activity uses thin film CIS solar photovoltaic technology for power generation thereby demonstrating the viability of solar based renewable energy generation in the region, which is fed into the nearest sub-station (part of the NEWNE Regional Grid), thus increasing energy availability under the service area of the substation.
