The Agro Solvent Products Private Limited (ASPPL) project is a 3.2 MW wind based power project at Jodha village of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan state of India.The project activity comprises of 4 numbers of Wind Energy Convertors (WECs), with each WEC having a capacity of 800 kW. All WECs are connected to the Unified Indian grid and the generated electricity is sell to Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (“Jaipur Discom”) in accordance with the Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) for 20 years.

Contribution of the project activity to sustainable development

Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India has specified the social well being, environmental well being, economic well being and technological well being as the four indicators for sustainable development in the interim approval guidelines of host country approval eligibility criteria for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects.

Contribution to Social Wellbeing:

• The project activity leads to the development of supporting infrastructure such as road network etc., in the wind park location, which also provides access to the local population.
• The project activity leads to alleviation of poverty by establishing direct and indirect benefits through employment generation and improved economic activities by strengthening of local grid of the state electricity utility.

Contribution to Environmental Wellbeing:

• The project activity is using renewable energy source for electricity generation, so it is not causing emissions in the environment.
• The project activity causes no negative impact on the surrounding environment contributing to environmental well-being.

Contribution to Economical Wellbeing:

• The project activity generates employment in the local area and also creates a business opportunity for local stake holders such as suppliers, manufacturers and contractors etc.

Contribution to Technological Wellbeing:

• The project activity is environmentally safe and sound as it does not produce greenhouse gases and any toxic or radioactive waste.
