The project activity is located in Nagangaon village located in Barkot town in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand in India.
The project consists in a green field Small Hydro Project and has a total installed capacity of 4.90 MW (2*2.45MW) to generate clean energy using the energy of the flowing stream. The project generates about 25.62 GWh of gross power annually and reduces approximately 19,301 tCO2/annum of GHG emissions.
The date of commissioning of the project was 29th August 2014. The project is a run of river type with minimum environmental impact and the generated electricity is being sold to the state electricity grid, thus reducing dependence on fossil fuels and reducing CO2 emissions.
Besides from the generation of electrical power, the project also contributes to the following:
a) Sustainable development, through utilisation of renewable hydro resources;
b) Rural development due to the location of the project in a rural area;
c) Generation of additional employment.
