This Gold Standard project is sited in Zhangbei County, Hebei Province, P.R.China. The project consists in the installation and operation of wind turbines ranging from 750kW to 1500kW, and sales renewable electricity to the North China Power Grid. The electricity delivered to the power grid by the project would have otherwise been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants.
This Gold Standard project supports the implementation of SDGs 7- Affordable and clean energy, 8- Decent work and economic growth and 13 – Climate Action. Gold Standard is a high standard for a climate secure and sustainable world.
The Project also contributes to sustainable development of the local community and the host country by means of:
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and emission of other pollutants from the power generation industry in China, compared to a business-as-usual scenario;
-Reducing exposure to health-damaging indoor air pollutions, and increased cleanliness and convenience;
-Helping to stimulate the growth of the wind power industry in China;
-Donating 500,000 RMB to local schools and establishing scholarships to support poor students to go to school.
