The UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are still land filling their waste. The UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are still land filling their waste .The CH4 Methane emitted by landfills is a Greenhouse Gas (GHG), 27 times more harmful than CO2. Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability LLC is degassing the landfill and has registered the project with the UNFCCC under the CDM scheme.
The project includes installation of 2 identical trains of landfill gas flaring setups. The Gas collection system is common to both the flare units. The project has been commissioned by Hofstetter Umwelttechnik AG, which is one of the leading companies in the world in flaring and degassing technologies. GESS has reduced the amount of Methane that would have been emitting passively to the atmosphere in the baseline period by over 300,000 Tco2e per year. Al Qusais landfill is the flagship project for GESS it is the first landfill gas to energy project in the middle east. It is under the jurisdiction of Dubai Municipality, and is currently generating power to supply power to our operations and to the DM Scale house and offices. It is currently the only landfill in the Middle East to produce power from landfill gas. “As entrepreneurs we are proud that this standalone project is setting the benchmark in the region for alternative energy”. Green Energy Solutions & Sustainability LLC has a signed Emission reduction agreement with the Norwegian government to monetize the Carbon Credits. GESS has established itself as a leader in the region. The additional credits that are generated by this project can be monetized by supporting the SME’s in the region that are reducing their impact with environmental solutions. We are offering credits to offset their reductions.
GESS is targeting landfills and providing environmental solutions throughout the region.
