Methane capture and combustion from swine manure treatment for Pocillas and La Estrella

This project developed by Agrícola Super Limitada (Agrosuper) improves the common practice of swine waste treatment reducing an important volume of greenhouse gases. The technology is based on the use of heated anaerobic digesters with flares and activated sludge plants.
In December 2000, Agrícola Super Limitada (Agrosuper) initiated a voluntary process to implement advanced waste management systems (anaerobic and aerobic digestion of hog manure), in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). During the following years, especially between 2004 and 2005, Agrosuper successfully implemented several of these projects under the Clean Development Mechanism.
The project consists of an advanced improvement to the common practice of swine waste treatment in the world, reducing an important volume of greenhouse gases. The technology is based on the use of heated anaerobic digesters with flares and activated sludge plants.
The project prevents waste biomass or wastewater from decomposing and generating methane, which enters the atmosphere and contributes to climate change. Among the benefits you will find: reducing air, soil and water pollution; improving city infrastructure; helping spread green technology worldwide; and improving health and safety.
