Ningxia Shizuishan District Heating System Project
2
The Ningxia Shizuishan District Heating System Project is located in Ninghui, China. The project consists of a centralized heating system with a co-generation plant.
The goal of the Project is to introduce a new primary district heating system in Ninghui. The new established heating network is designed for utilisation of surplus heat from 2*300MW cogeneration power units at the Guodian Ningxia Shizuishan Power Plant. The project constructs a primary network pipeline with the length of 36.67 km and 64 substations, which will replace all the decentralized, old boilers with lower heating efficiency.
Prior to the Project, the area was supplied with heat from coal fired boiler houses through existing isolated heating networks. The Project improves the energy efficiency of heat supply to the urban area in the city of Shizuishan greatly. The heating efficiency will be fostered by replacing the existing heat supply from old coal fired boilers with a lower efficiency. Due to the implementation of the Project activity, the amount of consumed fossil fuel (coal) for local heat supply would be considerably reduced, which will lead to a reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions corresponding to average 302,221 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year during the crediting period
Investing in the Carbon Credits of the Ningxia Shizuishan District Heating System Project is an incentive for Chinese Project Developers to develop more sustainable projects. This will consequently lead to next steps to be taken towards a sustainable and carbon neutral future.
