The Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (PCH) Rondinha, located on the banks of the Chapecó River in the Uruguay River Basin, in Passos Maia, Santa Catarina, Brazil, is an example of clean and renewable electricity generation. With an installed capacity of 9.6 MW and a physical guarantee of 5.48 MW granted by ANEEL, PCH Rondinha sustainably serves approximately 18,500 consumer units, benefiting around 70,000 inhabitants.
In operation since 2014, PCH Rondinha was the first energy generation asset acquired by the Tradener Group, which holds a 67.5% stake in the project, in partnership with CELESC Energia. The run-of-river operation of the plant uses the river's natural course and a minimal flooded area, significantly reducing environmental impacts.
The hydroelectric plant, designed with local ecology in mind, preserves aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, contributing to climate change mitigation by replacing more polluting energy sources.
Socioeconomic Development and Local Environmental Sustainability
Implementation of rigorous environmental impact control practices, promoting direct benefits to the environment.
Commitment to environmental education programs, the Fish Monitoring Program, and the Permanent Preservation Areas Recovery Program.
Improvement of Working Conditions and Job Creation
Generation of direct and indirect jobs in the region, supporting local socioeconomic development.
Implementation of initiatives that promote the training and employment of specialized labor in the operation and maintenance of renewable energy equipment.
PCH Rondinha not only preserves ecosystems and helps mitigate climate change by replacing more polluting energy sources, but also strengthens the local and national economy by integrating into the National Interconnected System (SIN), providing renewable electricity to the Brazilian power grid.
PCH Rondinha remains committed to ethics, respect for the environment, and the community, ensuring sustainable and responsible operations for society.
