This Gold Standard certified programme distributes solar water heaters (SWH). The project manager is Nuetech Solar, one of the largest manufacturers of SWH in India. The distribution of SWH requires constant awareness raising campaigns and the education of people, who often do not trust on non-electric solutions.
India is gifted with abundant solar resources. However, 90% of urban residents in western India use electricity to heat water. This accounts for 20% to 30% of electricity consumption, which causes a huge financial burden to the families and emits large amounts of carbon dioxide. In a country with about 300 cleary sunny days per year, dependence on electricity from fossil fuels represents a major waste of energy.
SWH are not widely used due to the low electricity prices, comparable to the cheap cost of electric water heaters. The distribution of SWH requires constant awareness raising campaigns and the education of people, who often do not trust on non-electric solutions.
The project participants Nuetech Solar and Carbonbay are welcoming any kind of comments, questions or requests with regard to the project activity and certifications. Please do not hesitate to contact us at info@carbonbay.com.
