This Gold Standard certified programme to distribute Solar Water Heaters (SWH) located in India and managed by Nuetech Solar, one of the largest manufacturers of SWH.
India is gifted with abundant solar resources. Yet, 90% of urban residents in Western India use electricity to heat water. This accounts for 20% to 30% of electricity consumption and does not only cause a huge financial burden to the families and emit large amounts of carbon dioxide, but in a country with about 300 clear sunny days in a year, this practice is also a huge waste of energy.
Yet, due to low electricity prices and comparable cheap electric water heaters, SWH are still not widely used and their distribution requires constant awareness raising and education of customers, who often don’t trust a non-electric solution.
The project participants Nuetech Solar and Carbonbay are welcoming any kind of comments, questions or requests with regard to the project activity or the certificates. Please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
