Vaayu (India) Power Corporation Private Limited (VIPCPL) has developed a 50.4 MW wind farm in Tamil Nadu, India. The project involves the supply, erection, commissioning, and operation of 63 Enercon E-53 wind energy converters (WECs), each with a rated capacity of 800 kW. Generating 109.625 GWh of electricity per year. The project supplies clean and green electricity to the Tamil Nadu state electricity grid, reducing the energy demand-supply gap. Registered on 19 July 2011, the project initially had all machines under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the state utility. However, in February 2016, ownership of 19 machines was transferred to Vaayu Renewable Energy (Godavari) Private Limited (VREGPL), and their electricity now supplies JK Tyre & Industries Limited through third-party sale agreements.
Contribution to Sustainable Development
